By being a part of Generation Victoria (GenV), you will help researchers find faster and better ways to predict, prevent and treat problems like preterm birth, allergies, anxiety, obesity, and more. These discoveries can transform health care and beyond to improve the quality of life for families from all walks of life and all levels of wellness and ability. Most Australian children and parents look forward to a happy and healthy future. However, we are seeing an increase in problems like obesity, allergies, mental illness and more. Answers are slow, and research often only looks at a small piece of the puzzle. Generation Victoria (GenV) aims to change this and find faster solutions for complex health problems. Better solutions to the complex problems we face in life We’re asking parents of children born between 4 October 2021 and 3 October 2023 across Victoria to be a part of GenV. We want to include families from all walks of life and from every part of the state. This includes: all ethnic backgrounds all lifestyles all levels of health and ability. Every family counts The more complete our picture, the faster we can find solutions to predict, prevent, and treat problems for our children and the adults they become. Our can lead to: better services better prevention, and a better quality of life. Put simply, by being part of the GenV generation you help to create a better future for all children and their families. GenV aims to keep things safe and easy for families. Once you join GenV, our work will mostly happen in the background. When we have your consent, we will link to information that is collected by services you already use, like health and education. Low effort from you, high value for the future We will follow-up with families on a few occasions over the first few years of your child’s life, including asking you questions about your and your child’s health and development. Together, this paints a picture of how children in all our communities grow and develop, how people age, and how health changes across generations.
