Home\For researchers\About the GenV Biobank Back About the GenV Biobank About the GenV Biobank In order to gain biological insights into the pathways to health and wellbeing, as part of a collaborative effort across the Melbourne Children’s Campus, GenV is building a state-of-the-art, secure, fully automated -80°C biobank (a Hamilton BiOS M10). The biobank will be the first of its kind in Australia, and the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. This automated biobank will not just house the GenV samples but include a robotic inventory management system to significantly speed up both storage and retrieval. When dealing with bio-samples on the scale of GenV, this is a resource that will be of tremendous value for researchers Australia wide, and internationally, for years to come. The BiOS M10 System is an ultra-low temperature (-80°C) robotic freezer used to store and retrieve biological samples. The BiOS maintains the highest quality of samples to ensure researchers have viable samples years and decades into the future. The system has storage capacity for up to 7.4 million samples, with the flexibility to store a wide variety of samples.
